About Me

Picture
Born and bred in Fife, I emigrated to Australia as a child and grew up in the beachside southern suburbs of Adelaide. After moving to Sydney to study Nursing, I met my husband of 35 years, had four children, moved back to Adelaide, had one more baby, and then gained my Midwifery qualification.

As children grew and life slowed down, I began feeling that I needed a new challenge. After losing first my father to MND, and then my grandmother and mother to cancer, I felt that I was losing touch with my heritage, and I had a yearning to return home. As the sound of the pipes calling me home grew louder, I could no longer ignore the longing, and I returned to Scotland exactly 50 years after I had left her bonnie shores.

While visiting a kiltmaker on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh when my brother was being measured for a kilt, a seed was planted. I knew that this was something that I wanted to do. After a lot of research, and finding out that traditional kiltmaking is listed as an endangered craft in Scotland, I discovered Marion Foster at Askival of Strathearn and the College of Master Kilt Tailors. I contacted Marion, signed up, and the journey began.

Traditional kilt tailoring, and protecting this endangered art has now become a passion of mine, and working under the expert tutelage of Marion, I am thrilled to be able to offer this standard of bespoke kilt tailoring in Australia.
